Want to join the crew?

This is your invitation.

Do you have something to share with other fathers? Maybe it's just one thing - but I believe that one thing is worth sharing. You are invited to send your essay in to The Pirate Dad.

Have you had an adventure with your family?
Advice nobody ever told you about being a Dad?
Did your wife or kid say something hilarious?
A Dad related how-to?
Have an idea for a fun family activity?
Did you take your kid to work?
Found internet plunder worth sharing with Dads?

I started this because I didn't find the blog I wanted to read. I want to be a great Dad. I like helpful articles. Suggestions of new activities to try, food to eat, and place to go. I like pictures. I like concise entries. I like links to cool stuff - music, sports, film, books, people, etc. I'm inviting other Dads to join me because a ship with one crew member won't go too far. Even though we'll probably never meet, we are still similar in that we are Dads. One of the benefits of the internet is pooling resources. Let's share what we know so we can be better at our important job of being a Dad.

--What should you submit?

“All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know.”
― Ernest Hemingway

If you have an answer to one of the questions above and you want other Dads to know  - send it in.

--Rules and requirements.

“The most valuable of all talents is that of never using two words when one will do.”
― Thomas Jefferson

  • If you have a propensity for flowery prose, a predilection for verbosity,  or a bad case of literary diarrhea, please edit for brevity. Keep it short and simple. No need to impress by dressing up the story, it's impressive that you are sharing.

  • Type what you want, but all content will be reviewed. Excessive profanity will be removed. Content that doesn't match up with other Pirate Dad entries will not be posted. If you don't self edit, there is a good chance I will do it for you. Or I'll just not post it.
  • Submissions should be original. Don't steal anybody's work.

  • When you submit, please include your name and a link if you have one.

Your intuition knows what to write, so get out of the way.”
